Sorry for reviving this old thread but im trying to read a MP2884A using the EVKT-USBI2C-02.

I have GND, SDA and SCL connected but no response, always shows Unknown MCU. I also tried switching data cables. Also powering the IC with 3.3 on pin 12 but nothing. I know for sure the IC is working since its doing its job.

I emailed the address mpsnow@monolithicpower.com about it but anyone has any idea what can be wrong?

Hello Alejandro,

Are you able to view any I2C digital logic signals on an oscilloscope (if you have one) since you are able to see the MP2884A IC working?

Check the order in which your GND, SDA, and SCL pins are to be connected as this is a common issue when interfacing these I2C connections with the EVKT-USBI2C-02 dongle. Also, verify that you have the correct GUI. You can email the contact that you had initially reached out to about that to MPS Now as they should be able to send that software to you.
