What is the dV/dt common mode rating of MIE1W0505BGLVH Isolated DC-DC

Hi,
I want to use the MIE1W0505BGLVH as a power supply for a gate driver circuit working at 100 V maximum which will have a high dV/dt between the input and output.

While isolation is not a problem, I would like to know the dV/dt rating of this device. Is there any concern about its operation if there is high dV/dt between primary and secondary. For example 100 V/ns?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @ernest ,

For isolated gate drivers we have solutions like the MP18851. It is my understanding that sometimes we need a floating high side driver, that is where something like the MIE solution would come in. From my understanding, the MIE solution would not be seeing the high dv/dt so there should be no concern, but I can check and get back to you!

Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,

thanks for answering. We need a floating power supply for the high side. The output of the of the DC DC will be fluctuating with up to 100 V/ns referred to the input, therefore it will be definitively seeing high dv/dt.

Can you let me know if the MIE1W0505BGLVH has a dV/dt rating or if has been tested for that? Just as example, we are considering another part from TI https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/ucc33420.pdf that includes the rating. MPS solution looks very competitive, however we need to be sure it will function reliability with high dV/dt.

For the gate driver we already have a solution picked but thanks for the suggestion.

Hi @ernest ,

Thank you for the clarification, this information is great help to us.

I am in communication with the team in charge of the isolated products, as soon as I hear back I will get back to you!

Kind regards,
Jonathan

Perfect, looking forward to the feedback from the isolated products team, have a great weekend!

Hello @ernest ,

We have the data and plan on updating the datasheet to include it. Updated DS will come end of this month.

Unfortunately, I cannot share it here since the data technically is not public information just yet. Kindly submit a ticket using this link and once we have direct email communication and an NDA, we will be able to share this information privately!
