"voltage of the current source" in MP3336A datasheet?

Could you please clarify the exact meaning of “voltage of the current source” in the paragraph “Switching Frequency Fold-Back” in the datasheet of MP3336A?
Is it the voltage across the current source so between VOUT and LEDx pins?

Hi Lorenzo,

Thank you for posting on the MPS Technical Forum.

The “voltage of the current source” is essentially the output voltage of the driver.

The switching frequency foldback feature is there for protection and to improve performance at light loads. A lighter load correlates to a smaller output voltage, or “voltage of the current source.”

Hopefully this makes sense. Sometimes the datasheets make things more confusing than they need to be.

Best,

Allison
