Variations of MP4247 and MP5031 via OTP

My engineering department have been pouring over the datasheets for the MP4247 and MP5031 before making a final decision on our components moving forward.

However, we seem to run into a difficulty involving the variants of these two chips with respect to their OTP (one time programmable) values and the register values / configuration they affect.
It’s also very confusing when OTP is used in the datasheet interchangeable between One Time Programmable and Over-Temperature Protection.

Is there a resource / guide that lists the various registers and values that the OTP (one time programmable) affect? For example, what are the differences in values between the MP4247-0000 and the MP4247-0001 and the MP4247-0002?

There is also an evaluation kit listed in the MP5031 datasheet on page 3 that doesn’t seem to exist anywhere on the website or on the internet. The kit is EVKT-MP5031 and the board is EVL5031-4247-RE-00A… neither of these appear to exist.
If they do, can you direct me to where they are so we may purchase for testing?

Thank you.

Hello Kevon,

I can understand that the confusion for the abbreviations of OTP referring to the format of the non-volatile programming as well as over-temperature protections. I had to get used to that while working here at MPS. It is easier to read datasheets when there are multiple times you can programming to the non-volatile registers (termed MTP, multiple time programming).

Also, a good question regarding the suffixes for the MP4247. We don’t have a summary table comparing the differences between the suffixes listed, but we do have a configuration table summary of the -0000 suffix as shown:

The other -0011 and -0002 (as listed on the datasheets) suffixes should have their parameters changed with respect to the ones changed with this table. I can get answers here as a follow up on this thread. Where did you see a -0001 suffix? Was this just an example?

For seeing what kind of inventory there is for the EVL5031-4247-RE-00A, please submit a ticket to connect directly with a sales representative that can have direct access to what we have in terms of inventory here: Contact MPS - Quoting & Product Availability Contact

Thanks for the speedy response, to be honest I was expecting a reply to take a couple days.

I used the -0001 suffix as an example. According to the datasheet, it states:
”** “xxxx” is the configuration code identifier for the register setting stored in the OTP. Each “x” can be a hexadecimal value between 0 and F.”

So my team and I were under the impression that the OTP could be anywhere from 0000-FFFF with each Hexadecimal group acting as a bitmask field for a configuration register.

Thank you for clearing it up and providing the link to query the evaluation kits.

Understood, we are trying to make sure that we get our responses out as fast as possible given current bandwidth.

But yes, you can request to have a custom suffix made for your application if you would like one. Please work this out with the sales and engineering contact that the ticket link should have routed you to. Of course, please let me know if there are any delays in them getting back to you.

Always happy to help. Since the subject matter here is resolved, I will now close this post. Please create a new one if there are any other questions and concerns.

Best,

Krishan
