This circuit is used for power section in an EV 2-wheeler IoT. And this issue is observed after device working for about more than 6 months in the field.
In some cases we have observed the schottky diode at SW pin is getting shorted, and in other cases, there is no short but the output voltage is not getting generated till I replace the diode with the new part.
Please let me know what could be the possible reasons for this issue.
Too much current, or too much voltage, or inadequate heat sinking. Diodes are pretty simple devices. What diode are you using? What is Vin What is Vout and Iout?
Who makes your diode?
Can you pick a diode with 10V more rating and double the current that fits in the same footprint?
I agree with jshannon, it is most likely due to too much current/voltage.
Our evaluation board uses a B1100-LS, using this part or a part with higher ratings as mentioned above may help the issue. Depending on what your peak current is, it could exceed the ratings of the diode, leading to the failure you are seeing.
