Regarding the COMP pin of the MP3364

Hi

My Customer has question.

Is there a method for calculating the component values to be connected to the COMP pin of the MP3364?
Since this information is not included in the datasheet, please let me know.

Hello Tatsuro-san,

This is an excellent question. These equations are indeed not in the datasheet as they should be. I can speak to my colleagues and ask about what these equations should be and push that they be added to the datasheet during the next revision cycle.

In the meantime, I would suggest using the following values as a starting point.

Is there certain behavior that you are seeing that would warrant more compensation?

Hi Krishan-san

Thank you for your comment.

No major issues have occurred so far; the customer contacted us because they wish to evaluate the appropriateness of the parameter values.
We would like to ask you to initially set the values according to the datasheet and, should any issues arise, collaborate with us on the necessary countermeasures.

Of course, no problem. I see that you have sent me the schematic and will put work to review this promptly.

Hi Krishan-san

Thank you for your cooperation.

We look forward to your comments.

Hello Tatsuro-san,

I talked with the product line about the equations used to size the compensation resistors and capacitors.

All they mentioned were that the formulas were complex and recommended the following values to be used:

Below two groups of COMP parameter can be gauged with the following values:

  1. COMP=(270ohm+470nF)//1nF (default compensation values as used in the datasheet, image shown above)
  2. COMP=(2kohm+100nF)//1nF

When your customer tests this board out, please use these values for the compensation network and see what works better. I will still try to inquire about the formulas involved.

Best,

Krishan
