Please see attached schematic. We are looking for an IC that can accept VBUS as well as car battery power, and can supply power for USB hub IC and support Quick Charge or at least Battery charge for at least one downstream port at the same time provide VBUS for other downstream ports, and its power doesn’t depend on attachment of any downstream devices.
Initial research indicates that MPQ4228 series may be suitable. However, can it supply 5V output when input is 5V or less? Its input range is 4.2 to 36v, but it also says step-down regulator in the datasheet. Another question is what the differences are between MPQ4228-C and MPQ4228-Q? Which is one is a better fit for us?
