Passive PoE Input on e.g. MP8008 PD device

Hi,

We are looking at using a PoE PD controller such as MP8008 (or similar) with integrated flyback controller for isolated secondary.
We also need a passive PoE input (always on protected DC) of 44-57V coming in through the same RJ45 as the standard / compliant PoE input (from PSE).
Will the controller run with this input and enable the downstream flyback? i.e. without detect/classification stage? We will also support the PSE with detect/classify when a 802.3af compliant PSE is present.

Hi tellis,

I believe if you use a power supply or passive POE, it will deliver power without the negotiation.
You can also utilize the adapter supply feature if want to choose between PSE input or adapter.

For 802.3at/af, you can also check out the MP8009 as we have 5V and 12V reference solutions that you can refer to. This supports PSR and SSR.

Best Regards,
Yu
