Nonvolatile memory of magnetic sensor MA735

Hello,
is the nonvolatile memory of magnetic sensor MA735 OTP? Can it be rewritten or one time only? What is the difference between the memory of MA600? Thanks.

Hello,

Welcome to the MPS Forums!

Both the MA600 and the MA735 have NVM (Non-Volatile Memory).

Here is what the MA735 datasheet has to say about the number of writes:

Thanks for the response.

From the “USER GUIDE – EVKT-MagAlpha-MagDiff” on page 15:
16. Correction Table:
a. Launch Calibration: Performs the sensor calibration to minimize angle errors. This feature requires a reference encoder to be connected and correctly configured. At least one full mechanical rotation of the magnet is required to compute the correction table. The calibration procedure starts by resetting any zero settings and correction table previously written into the
sensor registers, then measures the sensor’s angle output. The algorithm computes the correction table, writes it into the sensor registers, and stores these registers into the multiple time programmable (MTP) memory.
This feature is only available for the MA600.

b. Reset Correction Table: Resets the correction table that has been written into the sensor registers. This feature is only available on the MA600.

According to the user manual Resetting the calibration table is only available to MA600. Does it mean the MA735 cannot be calibrated multiple times? Or just rewriting over without resetting the previous values is enough?

MA600 is the only product to offer the 32 point correction table. You can find all the information in the Datasheet but, briefly, it is a set of configurable registers used to reduce the sensor INL to <0.1º. Once these 32 points are set, it is recommended to store them in the NVM so the user does not have to rewrite them every power cycle.

The button “Reset Correction Table” only offers a quick way to set all 32 points to zero (instead of manually writing them yourself).

So, answering to your question, MA735 cannot use this “reset” since it has no 32-point table to calibrate.
