Need to figure out how to provide safe 5V boot up and up to 40V output from MPQ4214

I have a need to test AVS and PPS on this kit but I also needed to know how to setup the FB divider to boot up safe voltage for USB use and still have 36V range
Kit divider is R1 90.1K and R2 10K and this does not allow for 36V capability for PD with EPR

if I change hardware divider I can get more than 20V but my start up voltage is no longer a save 5V on boot up, how do I control this

Internet rando, but I don’t think it quite works. It looks like the Vref of the error amp is programmable from 300mV to 2.047V a range of 6.82:1. If we take USB safe voltage as 5V ( and Vref at 300mV) then Vmax is 6.82 time that or 34V. Push it a bit and call USB safe voltage 5.25V and you get to 35.8V ( which should be close enough??

So you need to set up for 300mV reference I think via the I2C.

At a guess, R1 to 154k set Vref at 300mV via I2C will give you 5V and then crank up the voltage via I2C all the way to 35V

It is a little unclear how this works, Is there a default Vref that it comes up to? What would that be
Does it not come up unless I2C happens?

Hi, with 154K and 10K I still only get 33.5V max , what should I try now or is there something wrong with two of my devkits

I expressed doubt as to if this part could do the whole range. If you look at the range of the refernce voltage 0.3 to 2.047 that range is less than the range you need 5 to 36. So you can get close, like you have but can’t get there. Do you have a GPIO anywhere that you can use to invoke 36V mode?

All you need to do is add a 100k or so in parallel to the lower resistor and switched to ground via an open drain.
