Hi, this is Christopher from WPI India, I need clarification on BST to SW recommended voltage for MP9486AGN. In data sheet I found -0.3V to +6V is absolute maximum. Please confirm I can go till this range.
You think the datasheet is wrong? This pin is taken care of internally all you do is add an external cap and forget about it. Are you doing something weird like powering it externally?
If you try the fig 2 circuit MPS suggests 5V and for good reason. In this circuit during the power diode conduction time the SW node is actually down at -0.5V or something like that. So the voltage available to bootstrap charge the boost cap is effectively increased by the forward drop of the power diode.
Hello Christopher,
It is always best to follow what is listed on the DS. The absolute max for the BST to SW pin is -0.3V to +6V.

Jonathan
