MPS2908 : Buck Converter for wide in/out application

Hi,

I’m planning to use MPS2908A controller in My Buck converter application. Below are the desired specifications :

Vin : 48-52V
Vout : 12-36V
Pout : 1W- 24W

I liked how MPS2908A has an external pin by which I can set the threshold to enter into AAM mode at light load, increasing efficiency. However I’ve got couple of questions:

  1. In the datasheet it is mentioned that Vsense+/- Common mode threshold can not be higher than 24V, does this mean I won’t be able to regulate the output above 24V?
  2. Would you recommend any other alternative which has an option to set AAM/CCM boundary externally?
  3. IS this controller compatible to drive GaN Fets?

Hello prem.shah,

The part is recommended to operate with an output voltage below 24V and not guaranteed to function outside of this. A screenshot from the datasheet below.
