The MPQ4572 data sheet shows a 4.7uH inductor in the EMI Pi filter for the typical application. Can an MPL inductor be used for this filter application? Or more general, can the MPS inductors be used for DC filtering as well as DC/DC converter energy storage elements?
Yes, the same inductors can be used for both switch-mode regulators and DC input/output filtering applications. Choose an inductor with the same value and a current rating to allow margin for the maximum DC current expected.
