MPQ5872 for 36V system

I want to use the MPQ5872 as a smart load switch with current monitoring for a 36V system. Is a 36V nominal voltage officially supported? The part indicates it can operate up to 42V, but then the recommended operating range is only up to 28V. I do not expect overshoot above 42V, and the nominal system current is around 1.5A in the most heavily loaded configuration.

I see the 3A version (MPQ5873) is listed up to 36V for the recommended Range. Why the difference?

Hello Jeremy,

Apologies for the delay on this. I hope at this point you went with the MPQ5873 as the maximum recommended voltage here is 36V.

But this is a good question. I checked the evaluation board of the MPQ5872 and verified the maximum recommended input here is 28V (and 24V with SCP, same goes with the MPQ5873).

The MPQ5872 goes to 2A max (2023) and the MPQ5873 goes to 3A max (2024). One is just an upgrade from the other.

Best,

Krishan
