[MPQ5862] Over-Temp and Short-Circuit implication on output

Hi, I have few doubts as below.

  1. In case of Over-Temp and Short-Circuit issues, cant we give the indication on the FT pin? I don’t see such a description in the datasheet. Its only available for Input and Output voltages
  2. When Over-Temp and Short-Circuit conditions occur, what happens to the output voltage?
  3. Why there is no indication given for output under voltage condition..?

Hi @shyam.rao ,

  1. Both over-temp and short-circuit events will shut the respective channel off and pull the FT pin low, indicating fault. Over-temp protection triggers when Tj > 175C, and the device recovers when Tj < 150C. Short-circuit protection triggers when the Iout exceeds the current limit for longer than 0.5ms (or within 1us if the Iout exceeds very sharply). To recover the device after short-circuit event, you much power cycle or reassert the EN pin.
  2. If over-temp or short-circuit fault occurs, then only the respective channel where the fault occurred will shut down.
  3. This device does not feature under-voltage protection on the output.

Thanks,
Rubas
