MPQ4334GLE_1001

Hello MPS Support Team,

I am currently working on a design involving the MPQ4334GLE‑1001 buck converter, and I would like to request the official calculation sheet / design spreadsheet for this device.
Specifically, I need assistance with:

  • Inductor selection

  • Input/Output capacitor sizing

  • Compensation network

  • Current ripple and peak current calculations

  • Thermal and switching loss estimation

Could you please provide the Excel-based calculation tool or any design assistant file that MPS normally provides for this IC?

Hello,

For the MPQ4334, we only have a Simplis model available. This can help with all of the characteristics that you have just listed.

To receive this model directly, please submit a ticket through the following link:

Contact MPS - Design Assistance Contact

However, the MPQ4334 datasheet does go into detail on sizing for the following:

  1. Inductor selection (Inductor Sizing page 74)
  2. Input/Output capacitor sizing (Input Caps page 72, Output Caps page 75)
  3. Compensation network (Bootstrap Cap page 72, Error Amp page 69)
  4. Current ripple and peak current calculations (Current ripple page 74)
  5. Thermal and switching loss estimation (This is not detailed in the datasheet, please provide these details with your exact Vin, Vout, Iout, and Fsw).

Let me know if you have any specific questions here.

Best,

Krishan

Vin-9-16V,Iout-1A,fsW-2.2MHZ,Vout-5V,How to calcuate the power loss of this IC

To get an accurate estimate of the power loss, you would need to consider the following:

  • High-Side / Low-Side Conduction Losses
  • High-Side / Low-Side Switching Losses
  • Gate Charge Losses
  • Quiescent Loss from the control circuitry

These formulas are not in the datasheet, but the parameters necessary to calculate these losses should be outlined in the datasheet. Do you have a threshold for loss on the IC?
