MPQ4242 USB-PD without DP/DN connected

Dear MPS support team,
currently we need a solution for USB powerdelivery via USB-C connector to a tablet.
Therefore we would like to use the MPQ4242. Our issue: We would like to use the USB communication of the tablet for controlling other devices. Is it possible to use only the USB-PD functionality over the CCx lines and leave the USB DP/DN lines unconnected to the IC?
For us, we need only USB-PD and don’t neet the PPS functions.

Hello,

Yes, you can still use this part if you do not need DP/DM. DP/DM are used for legacy charging modes such as Apple divider mode, BC1.2, QC, but are not needed for USB PD negotiation.
