Hi all,
As far as I’m aware based on what I’ve read, the MPQ4242 (0000 variant) can be connected to a DC power source within the appropriate range and output up to 60W through USB-C without the need to program it through I2C, as MPS has already programmed it for this purpose. Is this correct?
Thank you so much for your help. I’m very excited to implement this great IC into my designs.
Double check the register settings for the 0000 variant in the MPQ4242 datasheet. I have provided them below (page 34 and 35 of MPQ4242 datasheet):
If these default settings work with your application, then this IC should be good for your 60W application out of the box. Be sure that your schematic also reflects the default datasheet requirements and if they align with the register configurations as well. Here is a typical application of an out of the box 60W MPQ4242 PD application (page 55 of MPQ4242 datasheet).
Let me know if there are any more questions.
Best,
Krishan
Hi Krishan,
Sounds good! All the default settings work for my application. I’ll be using this IC in a month or so in a DIY powerbank - I’ll let you know how it goes.
Thank you very much.
