MPQ4242-AEC1 - Power Dissipation and Max Output Current

Hi Team,

      This IC suggests it has recommended rating of 100W Peak Output. It doesn't mention anything with 20V 5A  PDO in the datasheet.
  • Can it handle 20V 5A ?
  • is there any reference design for 100W?
    the datasheet mentions upto 60W only .
  • The datasheet mentions it requires cable with 5A capability … What type of cable is required here ? is it EMCA or any other type?
  • Is there a requirement of EMCA cable for 100W ?

Hi Apurva,

I believe this part can support up to 60W continuous. Depending on your requirements, we do have 100W solutions such as MPQ4262 for example. If you need a PD controller, you can pair this with our PD controller like MP5031.
