MPQ28164GD with Battery Charger IC

Hi,
We are investing in MPQ28164GD as buck-boost IC for our hardware. The device is battery operated (non-chargeable Li SOC) and USB.

However, new requirement raised to have the device charge battery and once it full it’ll switch to VIN if available otherwise power the device from the battery.

is it possible to have MPQ28164GD act as charger? what is the minium IC to add to enable the device to charge the battery while keeping MPQ28164GD.

The device needs 4A peak current and 100ma-200ma and voltage input can be any 3.7v+

What battery technology are you going to use?? If you are going to use Li-ion, then I would recommend a proper charger IC.
“With an input from 2.5V to 5.5V, the device can supply 2A of current to the load with a 3.3V output voltage.” Also doesn’t this make the use of this device invalid?

I would suggest a power control of some kind based upon the requirement, 4A … USB-C? perhaps something like MP2733 with another BUCK to drop the voltage.
