MPM3606 Inductor Value

Hi,

I want to estimate the output ripple of MPM3606. The section “Selecting the Output Capacitor“ of the datasheet provides some formulas for this. The formulas require the value L1. I can not find any information on this value in the datasheet. The electrical characteristics do only provide “Inductor DC Resistance LDCR 60 mΩ”.

What is the Inductor Value of MPM3606?

Regards.

Hi Lukas,

The inductor value will depend on the customer’s maximum allowable voltage ripple and desired output capacitance, which populate the values ΔVout and C2, respectively.

The customer may use their chosen value/type of C2/its ESR to calculate the value of L1 based on their maximum allowable inductance. If following the “typical application” design given in the datasheet, C2 will populate with a value of 22uF. Please also consider the ESR of the chosen capacitors if they are tantalum or electrolytic.

We recommend the customer choose a voltage ripple value, then determine the inductor size from this value. Please note the maximum output current values when verifying the choice of inductor.

Thank you very much for your response. The first sentence of the datasheet says that MPM3606 has an internal inductor. How would I be able to change this? The typical application does not have an inductor as well.

So I am asking again: What is the value of the internal inductor of MPM3606?

Regards

For this part, use 1uH for your inductor value. Thanks for your patience.
