MPM3515 inductor

I’m looking at a design that includes the MPM3515 and applying fault conditions to the circuit to determine energy storage. The datasheet for the MPM3515 indicates that there is an internal 2.2 uH inductor. One of the fault conditions includes application of Vin to the SW pin whilst simultaneously grounding the OUT pin. My questions: 1. I assume that the inductor will not saturate. Can you verify? 2. What is the maximum current that can flow through the inductor?

Thanks!

Hi Kevin,

  1. This module is rated for 1.5A output current which means that you are not in danger of saturating the device at 1.5A output.

  2. According to the datasheet, this device has a typical 4A peak current limit, but note the device is rated for 1.5A output current (steady state). I would stick to this 1.5A output current as our max.

Thanks,
