MP8833 and MP8833A difference

Hello! What is the difference between the chips MP8833 and MP8833A?

I have designed a PCB with MP8833A. Would MP8833 fit in the same PCB? Since there is no datasheet provided for MP8833 I cannot check it by myself.

Hello Mikhail,

The MP8833 and the A version come in the same QFN-16 (2mm x 3mm) package where the ICs have the same exact pinout and landing pattern. Therefore, you should be able to use the MP8833 in a design meant for the A version.

The primary difference between these two TEC Controller variants would be the accuracy specs as shown (A version on right):

Our recommendation is to keep using the MP8833A. What is your motivation in using the MP8833?

Hello Krishan,

the motivation to use MP8833 is its availability on the market (DigiKey, Mouser etc). For the A version only the eval board is available, not the chip itself.

Understood, this should be ok to use in place of the A version with these accuracy differences in mind.

I would recommend building some protos with the base MP8833 first to see if this meets your standards since these parts are readily available.

If you have any questions during that process (assuming you proceed), we’d by happy to help answer any questions.

Best,
Krishan
