MP8030 used for normal PoE and non PoE on unused pair

Hi all,

I’m designing a board with a PD circuit that should work in these 3 cases :

1. 48V is present between Ethernet 2 pairs (A)
2. 48V is present between unused pairs (B)
3. no PSE present, so no PoE. Voltage 9-16V present between unused pairs

I was hoping MP8030 was able to switch to ADP “mode” if no handshake is done even if 16V is present on VDD pin.

The question is : Is MP8030 switch to ADP “mode” if 16V present on VDD that risks to make it wait for a potential handshake that will never happen?

Hello Michel,

Can you expand on what the ADP “mode” you are looking for is? The following described that the MP8030 will shut down when VDD is below 30V.
