MP8017 Transformer Recommendation for 12V / 650kHz PSR Application

We are designing a compact, low-noise PoE-powered device using the MP8017GL . We would appreciate your recommendation for a suitable flyback transformer.

Our key design parameters are:

Operating Mode: Active-Clamp Primary-Side Regulation (PSR)

Input Voltage: 37V - 57V (Standard PoE)

Output Voltage: 12V

Maximum Output Power: < 2W (Max load current will be ~167mA)

Switching Frequency (f_sw): 650 kHz

Key Constraints: Small physical size and low EMI are critical. Smaller transformer be ideal for our form factor and low EMI requirements. This is for measuring equipment.

The schematic specifies the transformer TWPEP090909B300T (EP7). Our initial research suggests this part may be specific to the EVL8017-L-00A evaluation board and could be difficult to source for production.

Our Questions:

  1. Could you confirm the primary inductance (Lp) of the reference transformer TWPEP090909B300T? This would help us find a suitable equivalent.

  2. Do you have a list of recommended or pre-qualified off-the-shelf EP7 transformers from manufacturers like Wurth Elektronik, Coilcraft, Pulse, etc., that are known to perform well with the MP8017 under these conditions (12V, 650kHz)?

So far we have found 750315828 from wurth as a replacement but we are not sure about its compatability with the MP8017

Hi,

TWPEP090711B327T from Sunlord will also be an option. But it looks like these transformers all from Sunlord. If TWPEP090711B327T is still hard to order, please let me know. I will check with our team. Thanks!

Best,
Fox
