We are using the MP8007 as a PoE 5V supply, utilising the design found in the MP8007 data sheet. The supply works well, supplying an Ethernet->Serial convertor that requires around 80mA.
The only issue is that the recommended transformer (Coilcraft CX9628-AL) whistles at about 10kHz while the supply is working. This does not seem to change with load, although we have not loaded the supply much.
Is this a known issue, or is there any way of either reducing it or moving it to above 20kHz so that it’s not normally audible?
