Hello, I think the current limiting isn’t working properly in my circuit.
I want to use the MP6610 to drive a 6-volt solenoid valve and limit the holding current to 100 mA. To do this, I’ve set the resistor at the ISET pin to 150 kΩ. I measured the current at the output using a current clamp, and it’s only 80 mA.
What have I done wrong and how can I fix it?
Here is my circuit.
The function of the ISET pin is to set the current limit and ISET pin voltage scaling.
So, there are two possibilities here:
- The ISET resistor is limiting current too much.
- The previous stage isn’t supplying enough current.
Have you tried decreasing the ISET resistance to something like 140kOhms or less and tested the current output? Have you tested the current output coming from your power stage upstream?
