We are considering to use a MP6546 BLDC motor driver with a MA710 magnetic encoder in the off axis configuration. The datasheet of the MA710 states that: “With multiple pole pair magnets, the
MA710 indicates multiple rotations for each mechanical turn.”. If we would use that feature, how would we configure the MP6546 since one magnetic rotation would not correspond with one mechanical rotation anymore?
Hi Eduardo,
Yes - I have seen that. I guess this register is to configure the motor topology.
What my concern is, that if the (encoder) magnet has multiple pole pairs, the MA710 angle sensor would signal multiple rotations per one mechanical rotation. How does this influence the MPS6546 motor driver which reads out the angle of the MA710 sensor.
The imag shows the sensor configuration, in our case we would just have a similar magnet, but with more than one pole pair.
Hi Eduardo,
I just tried to write to that register but the IC won’t hold the data. Are your sure this register is writable?
The sensor does not support absolute positioning when multiple pole pairs are used.
