MP6540HA eval board component parameters

Greetings,

I have a question regarding the component choice on the MP6540HGU-A Evaluation Board.

The capacitor between CP1 and CP2, according to the schematic, is 470nF. However the datasheet states that a 100nF ceramic capacitor is enough.

So should I use 470nF or 100nF for my custom board?

What voltage and current are you going to be operating at?

Supply voltage will vary from 10V to 14.7V for battery operation and also 24V (±10%) for operation with the PSU. Maximum current will be 4.5A.

The 0.1uF should suffice, but it also wouldn’t hurt to put the 470nF capacitor. It looks like the larger capacitor was added to delay the gate turn-on and reduce transient spikes.
If you need the HS FET to turn on faster, then I’d recommend using the 0.1uF.
