MP6540 current sence output termination

In our applicaiton we do not use SOA/SOB/SOC outputs of the MP6540. What is the correct way of terminating these pins? Is it acceptable to leave them floating or should they be connected to GND/VCC through resistors?

Hello @dmitri.ivanov ,

Since the pins are not planned on being used, and because they are analog output pins, it will be okay to leave the pins floating.
Hope this helps.

Jonathan

Thank you Jonathan,

In the block diagram SOA/SOB/SOC are all outputs of shunt amplifier circuit. Some amplifiers start to oscillate when not loaded - could you please confirm that these amplifiers do not have such behaviour without load?

Hello @dmitri.ivanov ,

I have checked all internal documentation, its seems the MP6540 was not tested with floating SOA/SOB/SOC pins. To be one the safe side, you could add the termination resistor as it was intended. That said, if you would like to test out to see if floating the SOA/B/C pins could cause some sort of oscillation, we recommend getting an Eval Board and editing it to have those pins floating by removing R2-R7.
