MP6004 will work for output current of 3A

HI Team

I am using EV6004-Q-00A primary side regulate flyback evaluation board.
When ever i give load current of more than 1A output voltage is dropping to 9V.

As given in MP6004 datasheet the maximum programmable current limit is 3A.
So can we use same EV6004-Q-00A eval board to get 3A output current with 12V output. Please let me know what are the component values i need to change to achieve this.

Thanks
Harish

Hello harish.naidu,

Going through the part it seems that the current limit corresponds to the peak current. Also based on what the datasheet describes as the target application of 13W I do not believe this is designed to handle 3A continuous at the output.

thank you

3A at what volts? If you set Vout for 50V could you expect 150W output? 3A and 9V is 27 watts. This part is targeting 13W PoE applications expecting 36W from it seems optimistic. The primary side power FET has a current limit of 2A the DC current that represents from the input supply will be about 1/4 of that so 500mA give or take. It isn’t enough to get 36W out.
