MP4688, MP4689A or MPQ24833 max pulse current

Hello Everybody,
the MP4688, MP4689A or MPQ24833 are LED Drivers for continous current application. I want to use them for flashing applications. Would it be possible to obtain information on what pulse load the drivers would withstand, for example, at a repetition rate of 30ms and a flash time of around 330µs?

I have already tested the two MP drivers and can say that the application basically works via a permanent enable signal and a pulse at the PWM input for such an application. However, this test was based on the specified 1A. In principle, this test would also not be within the scope of the module, but it works without any problems (so far). But, I could imagine that a pulse load would allow even more current from the modules to drive the LEDs, as the internal mosfets can switch over 3A.

I would appreciate an answer to this question.
Thanks in advance!

Hello Jonas,

In terms of the MPQ24833, this should 100% work as the part is rated for 3A so a pulse at this level should be no problem.

As for the MP4688 and the MP4689, these parts work at 1A maximum but may be able to handle pulses of 3A for a few microseconds perhaps. However, this information isn’t specified in the datasheet.

For that reason, I’d have to defer you to submitting a ticket such that you can get the timing of the max pulse current durations for the MP4688 and MP4689:
