MP4582 Pi Input Filter

Hi,

we are designing a new board using the MP4582 converter. The input voltage will be 24V and the output voltage 12V, Iout 1A.

On the datasheet we didn’t find something related if an input filter is necessary or not. Do you have some application notes on this specific converter about this topic?

Kind Regards,

Riccardo

Hi Riccardo,

A pi filter is not necessary for the input of the MP4582. However, we recommend placing at least one 0.1uF bypass capacitor and at least one 4.7uF bypass capacitor as close as possible to the VIN pin, with the 0.1uF being the closest capacitor to the VIN pin.

The 4.7uF capacitor will be the stronger bypass for noise, and the 0.1uF will stop higher frequency noises that are above the self-resonant frequency of the 4.7uF capacitor.

Thanks,
Rubas
