I am considering using the high-brightness white LED driver “MP4001”, which supports universal input, in a configuration where it is connected downstream of an active power factor correction (PFC) stage.
According to the datasheet, the supply for the “MP4001” is derived directly from the AC line by rectification, followed by a high-voltage LDO. My question is whether it is possible to supply the “MP4001” not from the rectified AC line, but instead from an external DC power source (for example, 12 V DC).
I would appreciate any clarification on whether such a configuration is feasible and, if so, what points should be taken into consideration.
Thank you in advance for your support.
