Hello, the MP3331GC is NRND and it is suggested to replace with the MP3331-C09W. Here are some questions.
1- What are the differences between these versions?
2- How can we identify which version of the chip we have in hand?
3- In flash operating mode, what is the maximum duty cycle for the STR signal? Is 85% at 600mA too much for this device?
Hello @patrick.daraiche,
Welcome to MPS forums. The MP3331-C09W can work with the input voltage as high as 5.2 V whereas the MP3331 can be functional with max input voltage of 5.5 V. Please share the top marking of the part so that we can verify the version of the chip on our end. For the maximum duty cycle, I’ll get back to you after confirming with our internal team.
Hello Saquib,
Thanks for the clarification on the input voltage. We are operating the device at 3.3V so we’re good.
I don’t have a particular chip that I need to identify right now but we are going to production with this device and I understand that I need you if I have to identify the part .
I asked for the maximum duty cycle because we had few device that had catastrophic damage when operation at 500mA with a duty cycle of 85% (around 14ms ON and 2.6ms OFF). In torch mode at 500mA, the device works well. But in flash mode, the device doesn’t support it. Do you have any recommendattion for flash mode?
Thanks
Hello @patrick.daraiche,
The final ILED on time depends on the STR high-level time and FL_TIMER register.
Can you please share your schematic so I can take a deeper look into the root cause of this issue?
