MP3304B for LCD Backlight

Hello,

I would like to drive the MP3304A/B at 5V to control the back light for a 7" LCD screen from my microcontroller board. The backlight LEDs requires 9.6V and 540mA of current. I would also like to dim the backlight.

  1. May I please get a sample circuit for this purpose?
  2. Your datasheet doesn’t show how to select the inductor, its value, its maximum saturation current, nor the output capacitance. Can I please receive some instructions regarding this?
  3. My I also get detailed information regarding dimming the LEDs?
  4. Is there a better suited IC for my application?

Thank You

Hello,

In the application section of the data sheet, there is a typical application circuit (Figure 2) that you can use as a reference. You can refer to the EVB data sheet as well.
A 2.2uH inductor should be fine so long as the saturation current is well above peak current that the inductor would see. If the current ripple is too high, the inductor can be sized up.

I hope this helps.
