MP2759A DOESN'T CHARGE IF BATT IS INSERTED AFTER Vin

I am designing a charging circuit using a MP2759A, at the moment everything seems to be working fine except for one situation. When I power the circuit without having connected the battery, the STAT LED flashes correctly and ACOK LED continous on, but if I insert the battery at this time both LEDs go off and the charging does not occur. Everything is restored correctly if I restart the circuit with the battery connected.

Why does the charge not start if the battery is inserted when the circuit is already ON?
And why, if the charge does not start, the LEDs are both off, should it not signal a FAULT?

I have a feeling this has something to do with the register setup of the charger IC. Would you mind sharing your general register settings? You should be able to export these metrics in the GUI.
