MP2731 temperature in discharge mode

Hello,

I’m using MP2731 charger IC (battery is connected). Is there a way to measure temperature when in discharge mode?
The datasheet does not say anything about it, only:
“The VNTC pin is available in both charge mode and OTG mode.”

I’m seeing VNTC drops to 0V when V_IN is removed. However VREF stays high and, according to the datasheet, is supposed to source VNTC. Is this an expected behavior?

Hi Oleg,

Thank you for contacting the MPS Forum. This seems to be expected behavior since the battery temperature monitor is not used in discharge mode. There is still an overall temperature monitor of the MP2731 device itself active during discharge mode, but the NTC looks to be disabled in standard discharge mode. You can use NTC in OTG mode instead.
