MP2731 Nonstandard adapter 2.1a and 2.4a configuration

What should be done to configure the MP2731 to use either 2.1a or 2.4a for nonstandard charging? Is this something that can be done using the registers or does a voltage need to be applied to the DP and DM pins?

Hi mbaker,

Thanks for posting on the MPSNow Forum.
There is a section (Input Source Type Detection) on page 21 of the datasheet that goes into detail about this.
You can force DP/DM detection using the USB_DET_EN bit[5], and then change the input current limit using register VIN_STAT bits[5:7]

Thank you for this info.

It turns out for non-standard charging I didn’t have to do anything other than up the current limit to have it deliver more current.
