Hi everyone,
we are designing a battery powered system and plan to use the MP2672A as charger IC. The system will be powered with 5V to charge the battery.
There should be an option to disconnect the battery and use it with the 5V power supply only. Does the MP2672A acts as boost converter in this case and we can draw 3A@8.4V from SYS pin?

This part has NVDC which you can read more about on page 18 of the datasheet. However, I believe this part can support up to 2A for Isys.
We do have boost chargers that can support higher current such as MP2650.
