MP2639C Missing Battery

Hello - I received the MP2639C demo board. It’s mostly good, although I don’t think you guys thought of everything. Maybe you need a D version?
When I remove the battery, something is making a noise (IC, caps, inductor?), all 4 fuel gauge LEDs are on, CHG is on, and ACOK is on. This doesn’t make sense. Please confirm this is the expected behavior? My expectation is that the fuel gauge lights will be off and ACOK will flash or be off.
Also, if you add battery back while the IC has VCC, it doesn’t enable the charge mode.

Otherwise, the IC works fine. Discharge could operate better - switching on when the mode is changed to discharge instead of having to also press a button.

Hi Sean,

What kind of noise are you hearing (e.g. clicking, high frequency ringing)? It could be a bad capacitor.

If you are in charging mode, VCC will be supplied by USB when the battery is disconnected. Also, it looks like you’re doing a hot insert with the battery when the charger is enabled. We recommend checking the capacitors to ensure they’re not damaged.

Best,
Luke
