My MP2617HGL-Z is not charging but it is shwoing 4.1V (there is small fluctuation between 4.0V and 4.1V) when there is no battery connected yet when the battery is connected its drop to the battery voltage (in this case 3.7V because battery was prvously charged to 3.7V) and is not charging but the indicator is showing its charging.
Hi,
Thank you for your question on the MPS forum. This behavior usually means the MP2617 is not delivering real charge current despite the charging indication. The 4.0–4.1 V no-battery reading is likely the SYS node, which can be programmed by the SYSFB resistors R6/R7. When the 3.7 V battery is connected, the node can drop to the battery voltage if the charge current is being limited to zero.
If possible, please check:
-
The actual battery current; voltage/status alone may not be proof of charging.
-
VIN must be above UVLO and at least about 280 mV higher than the battery voltage.
-
EN must be low to enable charging.
-
Verify M0/M1 input-current-limit setting, floating defaults to 2 A.
-
Verify the ISET resistor is setting the intended charge current.
-
Verify SYSFB resistor values/tolerances.
If VIN and EN are correct but the battery current is zero, the most likely causes are input-current limit mode, ISET setting, NTC fault, or SYSFB/BATT wiring.
Please let me know of any results that may be unexpected and I’d be happy to help troubleshoot.
Thanks,
Mason
