MP2617HGL-Z - CHGOK blinking at 6Hz

On the MP2617HGL-Z, the CHGOK pin sometimes blinks and at other times turns off completely. I understand that CHGOK not blinking indicates the battery is fully charged, so the blinking behavior is unexpected and seems to indicate an issue.

Could you explain the functionality of the CHGOK pin in detail and what conditions (such as input power fluctuations, charge termination, recharge thresholds, thermal regulation, or fault states) could cause CHGOK to blink intermittently?

Hello Suwin,

CHGOK is pulled low during charging and pulled high through some external resistor to VCC to indicate that charging is completed.

As for the blinking that you see, please see the following:

Based on these two sections, could it be that your system is indicating an EOC Indication? What is the SoC of the batteries while you see CHGOK blinking and then stopping?

Can you clarify more what is the timing capacitor do?

Here is more detail on the timing capacitor, effectively determining time for when charge is to be terminated:

See more intricate details for this on page 19 of the MP2617H datasheet. Let me know if there are any more questions on this.

Best,

Krishan
