Mp2617h - low charge current

I want to load the battery with 2A.

VIN = 5V - from my labor power supply.
ILIM = 2A - M0, M1 are floating, RILIM are 10K - just to let this pin not open.
ISET = 2A. RISET = 1.05K.
VSYS = 4.23V.

At 5.0V input Ichg = 140mA only.
At 5.2V input Ichg = 330mA only.
At 5.4V input Ichg = 520mA only.
At 6.0V input Ichg = 176mA only.

My battery is a LiPo 3.7V.

If I start charge the battery the Vbatt was 3.5 Volt.

What do i wrong??

Please help!!
Many Thanks for your support!

Hello,

I’ve the same issue.
Very low charge current (250mA)

ISet = 1.05k.

Did you have fixed this issue?

Best Regards
Alex.

Hello Alex,
No, I cannot fixed the issue, Sorry.
I am still waiting for support from MPS…

Hi Sebastian,
Our apologies on the delayed response, thank you for your patience.
I have checked your schematic, majority checks out.

Can you please try the following:

  1. Increasing R_ILIM to 32k
  2. Confirm if this does not work with another battery cell.

Regards,
Nouman

Dear Mr Nouman,

I increase the R_ILIM to 32K - same issue…
Than I removed the R_ILIM completely - same issue…

VLIM ist set to 4.86V.
So if I power my system with 5.0 Volt, Ic is 250mA only.
If i power the system with 5.2V i get Ic to 850mA.
And if I power the system with 6Volt or more i get 180mA only.

But i never reach the default Ic (2A).

Is it necessary to use a resistor if the system is in defsult mode and M0 and M1 are floating?
