Hi,
I use the MP2615 to charge my two cell battery. When the gauge closes the ‘charging mosfet’ for some reason (over-current, over temperature, …), the MP2615 runs at no load. It is noisy and the CHGOK LED flashes.
I wonder if this no-load operation is a safe case for the MP2615 or if it can possibly break.
Note that when the charge current drops below the termination threshold (IBF) during the CV charge
phase, the charger will stop charging and the CHGOK pin becomes open drain.
The Charge Status Indication table on page 14 of the datasheet also provides more information on the charge status output pins.
Cindy, I believe that I am experiencing the same issue. When charge is complete, the Charge OK line is oscillating. This noise leads to my indicator LED inverter to turn on both LEDs rather than a charge complete LED. See the attached schematic.
