MP2462 and voltage feedback

Hi,

I’m just checking the MP2462 datasheet. I would like to get rid of the 8.2 pF capacitor in parallel with the voltage feedback resistor. However, there is no information about during what circumstances this capacitor can be omitted.

What if I reduce the impedance of the voltage feedback network by a factor of 10? Would there still be a need for this phase lead that a cap would induce, or was it originally there just to reduce the stray capacitances on your PCB? I need a small idle load on the 3.3 V output anyway.

Hi Christian,

That is the feed forward capacitor. It is used to increase the system’s stability. It is a small and important component, so I will not recommend you get rid of that cap.

Best,

Fox

Thank Fox for your reply. I will include this cap in the design. How much phase advance is required, would be nice to know how to properly dimension this capacitance with different feedback resistances.
