MP2338: CFF calculation

We would like to use the MP2338 to convert from 10V to 5V with max. output current 2A. The 5V supply It is basically used for analog circuitries, so need to optimize for best transient performance. The scope is to design for robustness and stability. According datasheet I do see a lack of information how to calculate/ estimate the CFF capacitor. In datasheet you give some example. However looking into Eval board schematics it looks different to recommendation. For sure the CFF value depends from feedback network resistor values, inductance value and value of output capacitances. If there is no equation, is there any other tool available to get some starting value for CFF? What is the approach for correct design?

Hello, since the Cff capacitor is going to depend on your systems specific load transient requirements. MPS recommends Cff capacitors ranging from 5pF-470pF. I would recommend starting with 30pF and increase or decrease as necessary to meet your transient requirements.

To get the best results, you can simulate parts using MPSmart, our SIMPLIS simulation tool, which has the MP2338. This tool will allow you to simulate transient and steady state responses according to your system power requirements.
