MP2161 OCP measurement

Dear All,

We use MP2161 for 3.3V to 2.5V/0.7A design but OCP is observed to be lower than 2.7A. OCP measurement is 0.7A, Could you please point out why is too lower OCP? Thanks.

Hi Juin,

Thanks for reaching out to MPS. It’s very abnormal that the OCP is tripping with a 0.7A load on the MP2161, can you help provide the saturation current of the inductor you’re using? It’s possible the inductor saturating which can cause a current spike that triggers our OCP.

Hi George,

Please see below schematics. So, input 3.3V to 2.5Vout is meet MP2161 specification, right? one more question, Base on datasheet, MP2161 has a typical 3.2A current limit for the hight side switch, does it mean to hit current limit to follow peak of inductor current (Peak is 3.2A)?
