MP2145 driver power LED

您好!

请问能用MP2145去驱动power LED (3~6A)吗? 如果可以, 是否有相关的参考电路可以提供?
谢谢!

Hi Angus,

Welcome to the MPS forums!

MP2145 is a normal buck converter, you can use to power your LED depending on the voltage it is rated for and it can be set with the two feedback resistors at the output. This part can output from 0.6V to 5.5V.

Please refer to the below schematic from our EV2145: for your reference.

Hello Adhish,
Thanks for your feedback.
However, we would like to turn on the the Power LED which is 2-3A. I have to consider different on each forward LED voltage. Therefore, I cannot adjust the resistor for each of them in production.
I saw some buck converter can use the op-amp together with the FB to adjust the output voltage automatically, such that it can match with different LED with constant current. Is it possible to apply similar solution on this chip? Can you provide more information on it too. Many Thanks.

Thanks & Regards
Angus

Hello Adhish,

Will you have any idea / reference on this kind of solution?

Thanks & Regards

Angus

The MP2145’s feedback loop is specifically for voltage regulation. For a constant current source, you need a chip with a dedicated current sense pin. Using a separate constant current driver would be a much more reliable solution for production.

Hi Angus,

We have MP2480 that you can take a look at.

Dear Adhish,

Thanks a lot for your suggestion. However the benefit for the MP2145 is the min operation voltage is 2.8V which I can use the Li-ion battery to drive the LED directly. So do you have other proposal by using the buck coverter as a LED driver? Thanks a lot.

Thanks & Regards

Angus

Hi Angus,

We do not have buck led drivers with as low input voltage as 2.8V.
