I want to use the 5A MCS1823 device for current measurement but i expect current peaks up to 25A.
Can i use the 5A version or do i have to use a higher rated device with less accuracy?
Are there any effects to the device when i leave the specified current range?
Are there application notes available tackling this topic?

Is there a reason why you want to use the 5A version as opposed to a higher current rating one?
You can refer to page 18 in the datasheet on information about OCD and thermal behavior.
